Volleyball Recap: Athens Extends Winning Streak to Three

Athens waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Triopia/Virginia Trojans. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Athens not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Triopia/Virginia between 15 and 16 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-15.

Athens' offense was headlined by Devan Barrett and Lydia Hart, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Arabelle Cunningham and her 20 assists. Barrett was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Athens' win bumped their record up to 28-7. As for Triopia/Virginia, their loss dropped their record down to 23-10.

Coming up, Athens will face off against St. Teresa at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Triopia/Virginia, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Astoria/VIT on the 22nd.
