Softball Recap: Illiana Christian Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

Illiana Christian's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Harrison Raiders 13-11. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered an 8-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Illiana Christian got a massive performance out of Lydia VanderWoude, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave VanderWoude a new career-high. Olivia Daliege was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Illiana Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

Illiana Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Harrison, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Illiana Christian will challenge Hammond Bishop Noll at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Harrison, they will square off against Terre Haute South Vigo at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
