Baseball Game Preview: Rosemead Panthers vs. Arroyo Knights

Rosemead hasn't had much luck against Arroyo recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will welcome the Knights at 3:15 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Rosemead is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Marshall, falling 9-2.

Rosemead saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Mojica, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Mojica also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Arroyo fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Mountain View on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 7-6. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Vikings 5-0 in the first period.

Noah Fonseca made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Manny Vargas, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Rosemead's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Arroyo, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 1-1-1 and their overall record down to 7-5-1.

Rosemead couldn't quite get it done against Arroyo when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 12-8. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
