Baseball Recap: Bell Comes Up Short

Bell fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Garfield on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-1. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Bulldogs since Wednesday.

Adolfo Esquivel got Bell off to a strong start despite the final result, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Esquivel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bell saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Gonzalez, who went 1-for-5 with one run.

Bell's record now sits at 19-4. As for Garfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Bell beat Garfield by a score of 3-1 on Thursday.
