Volleyball Recap: Evergreen Comes Up Short

Evergreen entered their matchup against Lakewood on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cougars took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Evergreen started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-18.

Charleston Cowen paced Evergreen's offense, picking up eight kills. Cowen got some help from Sophie Mulso and her 18 assists. Anabelle Wyatt controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Evergreen's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Lakewood, with the victory, they broke their four-match losing streak and moved their record to 7-15.

Evergreen didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Green Mountain on the 27th. As for Lakewood, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Valor Christian on the 28th.
