Volleyball Recap: Clifton-Clyde Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Clifton-Clyde fell 2-0 to Axtell. Clifton-Clyde was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Axtell apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Clifton-Clyde had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19.

Calyn Baker paced Clifton-Clyde's offense, picking up eight kills. Baker got some help from Scout Skocny and her 15 assists.

Clifton-Clyde's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Axtell, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Clifton-Clyde will look to defend their home court on Saturday against St. John's/Tipton Catholic at 8:00 a.m. As for Axtell, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Centralia on the 9th.
