Softball Recap: Euclid Takes a Loss

Euclid extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 5-15 in the process. They came up short against the Shaker Heights Red Raiders, falling 16-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 on April 7th.

As for Shaker Heights, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Considering they have won nine matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Shaker Heights' part, Scout Harvey made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Harvey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eleanor Miller, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and one triple while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Molly Milligan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Looking ahead, Euclid will face off against Villa Angela-St. Joseph at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shaker Heights, they will square off against Bay at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
