Basketball Game Preview: Alcoa Tornadoes vs. Austin-East Roadrunners

The Alcoa Tornadoes will take on the Austin-East Roadrunners at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Alcoa's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.

Alcoa saw some tournament action on Friday. They had just enough and edged Choctawhatchee out 74-71. Given the Tornadoes' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 21st in Tennessee, while the Indians are ranked 284th in Florida), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Austin-East took a blow against Tri-Cities on Saturday, falling 77-48. The Roadrunners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alcoa is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for Austin-East, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Alcoa barely slipped by Austin-East when the teams last played back in February, winning 86-85. Does Alcoa have another victory up their sleeve, or will Austin-East turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
