Baseball Recap: Chaffey Gets the Win

Chaffey never got on the board in their matchup last Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Diamond Ranch on Friday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 11-6. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Jaden Resendez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those two hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ernesto Hernandez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Chaffey's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Harlan Gomez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Chaffey's record is now 4-6. As for Diamond Ranch, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Chaffey will venture away from home to take on Don Lugo at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Diamond Ranch, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Diamond Ranch Panthers duke it out with Calvary Baptist Cougars at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
