Recap: Port Jefferson Royals vs. Miller Place Panthers
The Port Jefferson Royals were the 54-26 winner over the Miller Place Panthers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Port Jefferson was the victim of a tough 47-22 defeat at the hands of Miller Place on Friday.
Ava Zicchinelli continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Miller Place, scoring 14 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Zicchinelli has scored at least 25% of Miller Place's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Callaghan, who scored nine points.
Port Jefferson's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-1. As for Miller Place, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Jefferson will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Babylon at 10:00 a.m. on January 6, 2024. Miller Place will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Kings Park at 6:00 p.m. on January 24, 2024.
