Recap: Canton Tigers vs. Murrah Mustangs

The Canton Tigers waltzed into their game Friday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They put the hurt on Murrah with a sharp 59-35 win. Considering Canton has won three contests by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Canton found their leader in underclassman Shamira Morton, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Morton has scored at least 25% of Canton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaniyah Hawkins, who scored five points along with five assists and four steals.

Canton pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Murrah, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canton will be home for the holidays to greet Provine at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Provine is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. Murrah will be home for the holidays to greet Starkville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
