The Stamford Black Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Masuk Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are still undefeated after four games, but that won't be the case come Monday.
Stamford proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by three) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Joel Barlow 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Black Knights have posted since April 12, 2024.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (105-101) Stamford actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-23, 15-10.
Meanwhile, Masuk was able to grind out a solid victory over Darien on Saturday, taking the game 3-1.
Masuk walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-19, 24-26, 25-12.
Stamford better keep an eye on Nick Adams. He was instrumental in Masuk's win, getting 16 digs and two aces.
Masuk's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Stamford, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's game: Stamford has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 15.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Masuk struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
