Baseball Game Preview: Tucumcari Rattlers vs. West Las Vegas Dons

Tucumcari hasn't had much luck against West Las Vegas recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rattlers will venture away from home to challenge the Dons at 3:30 p.m. Tucumcari has given up an average of 11.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tucumcari lost 20-10 to Raton on Monday.

Matt Gomez was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two doubles. Tucumcari is 4-2 when Gomez posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Luis Archuleta was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Meanwhile, West Las Vegas didn't have quite enough to beat St. Michael's on Monday and fell 6-4. The Dons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tucumcari's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for West Las Vegas, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.

Tucumcari came up short against West Las Vegas in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 20-15. Can the Rattlers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
