Football Game Preview: Brick Township Green Dragons vs. Pinelands Regional Wildcats

The Brick Township Green Dragons will face off against the Pinelands Regional Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Brick Township will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Brick Township is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Manchester Township for the full four quarters, racking up a 43-0 victory. The Green Dragons pushed the score to 36-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hawks had no chance of recovering from.

James Hirtes produced another solid effort rushing for 93 yards and three scores on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 96 yards and one TD while completing 85.7% of his passes. What's more, he racked up 165.2 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024.

Brick Township's run defense was locked in: Manchester Township could only muster 1.2 yards per carry. While two picked up at least seven total tackles, Matt McGuigan stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made seven total tackles. Brick Township didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.3.

Brick Township didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Germaine Rice Jr and Romeo Cevallos.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Pinelands Regional's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 6-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Toms River East. The game marked the first time this season in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

Pinelands Regional's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Brick Township, they moved to 4-5 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.
