Soccer Game Preview: Bishop O'Dowd vs. Castro Valley

The Bishop O'Dowd Dragons will face off against the Castro Valley Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bishop O'Dowd will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

If Castro Valley heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Bishop O'Dowd took over last week. Bishop O'Dowd had just enough and edged Berkeley out 2-1 on Wednesday. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 437th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chloe Keating and Kiana Lee Olsen scored both of Bishop O'Dowd's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 23 goals.

Meanwhile, Castro Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Alameda on Wednesday, taking the game 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Bishop O'Dowd's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 39 goals over those seven matches. As for Castro Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5-1.

Bishop O'Dowd beat Castro Valley 2-0 when the teams last played on January 9th. Will Bishop O'Dowd repeat their success, or does Castro Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
