Recap: St. Mary Catholic Central Falcons/Kestrels vs. Flat Rock Rams
The St. Mary Catholic Central Falcons/Kestrels posted their closest win since December 18, 2023 on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Flat Rock and snuck past 37-34. Given St. Mary Catholic Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Flat Rock is ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Flat Rock lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Layla Holbrook, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Durfee, who scored two points along with two steals.
Flat Rock struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
St. Mary Catholic Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Flat Rock, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
St. Mary Catholic Central will head out on the road to take on Airport at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Mary Catholic Central will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Airport surely won't give up without a fight. As for Flat Rock, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Huron at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Flat Rock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday.
