Softball Preview: LAMP Golden Tigers vs. Holtville Bulldogs
The LAMP Golden Tigers will head out to challenge the Holtville Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. LAMP has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
LAMP came up short against Tallassee on Thursday, falling 16-1.
LAMP saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Russell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Minjoo Kwak also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Holtville came up short against Chilton County on Tuesday and fell 10-5. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bailea Boone was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Bethanee Harris was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Holtville's loss dropped their record down to 8-5-1. As for LAMP, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
LAMP beat Holtville 4-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2019. Will LAMP repeat their success, or does Holtville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
