Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Righetti's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

While Righetti put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Cabrillo. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Conquistadores. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Cabrillo's batters probably weren't too happy with Emily Fortin, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Fortin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jenna Arguijo, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).

Righetti has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cabrillo, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Righetti will challenge rival Arroyo Grande at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Cabrillo is set to square off against their familiar foe Mission College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
