Basketball Game Preview: Vernon Yellowjackets vs. Bozeman Bucks

Vernon hasn't had much luck against Bozeman recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Vernon Yellowjackets will be home for the holidays to greet the Bozeman Bucks at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Vernon is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were beaten by Port St. Joe 64-15.

Despite the loss, Vernon saw an underclassman step up: freshman Honesty Daniels posted nine points. That was a full 60% of Vernon's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, Bozeman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a hard 44-27 fall against North Bay Haven Academy. One positive for the Bucks, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Bozeman's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Vernon, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Vernon lost to Bozeman at home by a decisive 53-38 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Vernon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
