Volleyball Recap: Westview Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Westview can now relate to. They fell just short of the La Costa Canyon Mavericks by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in March.

Westview took La Costa Canyon into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking ten-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-14, 20-25, 22-25, 15-5.

Gerrit Van Glabbeek was the offensive standout of the game as he had 14 digs and five assists. Those 14 digs gave him a new career-high.

Westview has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-20 record this season. As for La Costa Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 12-18.

Westview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for La Costa Canyon, they will face off against Poway at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Titans have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
