Volleyball Recap: Life Waxahachie Takes a Loss

After flying high against Venus on Friday, Life Waxahachie came back down to earth. The Mustangs fell just short of the Hillsboro Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Life Waxahachie took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 22-25, 26-28, 25-17, 15-13.

Sienna Okpuzor paced Life Waxahachie's offense, picking up 14 kills. Okpuzor got some help from Mikayla Turner and her 26 assists. Okpuzor was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Life Waxahachie's defeat dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Hillsboro, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Life Waxahachie will take on rival Ferris at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hillsboro is set to square off against their familiar foe Kennedale at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
