Volleyball Recap: Concord Comes Up Short

Concord came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Carson Cougars. If the Spiders were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Cougars when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-12, 25-9.

Concord's offense was headlined by Lily Hermans and Anamaria Shuman, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Adeline Fulton and her 13 assists. She also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Riley Porter, racking up two apiece.

Among those leading the charge was Alana Herring, who had nine digs and two aces. Carmen Graham was another key player, getting five digs and two aces.

Concord has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Carson, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Concord is set to face off against their familiar foe West Rowan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Carson will challenge rival Salisbury at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
