Tolleson is 8-2 against Valley Vista since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wolverines will challenge the Monsoon at 6:00 p.m. Tolleson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.

Last Thursday, Tolleson made easy work of Apollo and carried off a 14-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

Lilliana Reyes looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sammie Ortega, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Adamariz Padilla was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Tolleson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Valley Vista fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Skyline on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Coyotes by a score of 13-11. Even if the Monsoon couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Valley Vista dropped their record down to 5-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Tolleson, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.

Tolleson took their victory against Valley Vista in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 17-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
