North Brunswick hasn't had much luck against Laney recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Despite the defeat, North Brunswick got top-tier performance from Kane Jenrette, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. Jenrette's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Fanning, who posted eight points.
Even though they lost, North Brunswick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Laney made easy work of Topsail on Thursday and carried off a 67-46 win. The Buccaneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.
Laney's win came from a few key players North Brunswick will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Colin Lamb, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 13 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Dylan Fortun was another key player, going 6-for-9 en route to 17 points.
The victory made it two in a row for Laney and bumps their season record up to 15-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points over those games. As for North Brunswick, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: North Brunswick has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 35.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Laney struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
North Brunswick took a serious blow against Laney when the teams last played on Tuesday, falling 74-42. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point North Brunswick was down 40-19.
