Softball Recap: Leigha Lopez Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Vandegrift

Cedar Ridge won against Stony Point last Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Cedar Ridge Raiders didn't even let the Vandegrift Vipers on the board, marking the Cedar Ridge Raiders' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Vipers: they've now won six in a row.

Caitlin Benningfield was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Leigha Lopez was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was London Collins, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

Cedar Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in seven consecutive matchups.
