Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Davonte Brown and Nahum Pierre Lead Ramapo to Victory

There's no place like home for Ramapo, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 24-14 victory over the Yonkers Force [Gorton/Roosevelt/Yonkers Montessori Academy/Yonkers] Force on Friday. The Gryphons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Force, too.

Leading Ramapo to victory were Nahum Pierre and Davonte Brown. Pierre rushed for 218 yards and one score while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, while Brown rushed for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Pierre's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 106 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Ramapo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 300 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

When it comes to explaining why Yonkers Force [Gorton/Roosevelt/Yonkers Montessori Academy/Yonkers] lost, don't look at Brendan Mulvilhill. Despite the final result, he rushed for 175 yards and one TD on only 14 carries, and also threw for 136 yards and one touchdown. With that strong performance, Mulvilhill is now averaging an impressive 101 rushing yards per game. Yonkers Force [Gorton/Roosevelt/Yonkers Montessori Academy/Yonkers] also got a significant boost from Tyshawn Lightfoot, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

Ramapo's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Yonkers Force [Gorton/Roosevelt/Yonkers Montessori Academy/Yonkers], their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.

Ramapo wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 41-0 victory against Ossining on the 17th. As for Yonkers Force [Gorton/Roosevelt/Yonkers Montessori Academy/Yonkers], they have also already played their next matchup, a 28-12 win against White Plains on the 17th.
