Calvin Connors ran for two touchdowns and
Brandon Okuma added two as well as
Lowry (Winnemucca, Nev.) defeated Elko (Nev.) 41-7 on Saturday.
The Buckaroos were up 28-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Michal Arenas in the first quarter.
Lowry expanded its lead to 41 points entering the fourth quarter. LHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Connors touchdown pass to
Joshua Shaver.
The Winnemucca school put up 21 points in the first quarter en route to the win. The Buckaroos rushed for three touchdowns on the ground during the quarter, including one by Arenas.
Connors was the top performer for Lowry. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.
The Indians' Cody Green played well. The senior ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to two on the year.
Elko's lone touchdown came on an 8-yard run by Green in the fourth quarter.
LHS came into the game allowing 17.8 points per game. The seven points that EHS ended with were well below its average of 15.5 coming into the game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 25-0 win for the Buckaroos.
With the win Lowry extended its winning streak to four games.
Lowry (5-1) goes up against Sparks in a IA Northern game matchup next week, while Elko (1-4) locks horns with South Tahoe also in a IA Northern game.
