Basketball Recap: Plainview Indians vs. Byng Pirates

The Plainview Indians came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 42-36 W over Byng. This was payback for Plainview, who suffered a 51-41 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Plainview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emilee Hedger, who scored 15 points along with four steals. Hedger is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marya Southerland, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Plainview pushed their record up to 17-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.5 points per game. As for Byng, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-9.

Plainview will take on the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: E?niyah Holmes and Jacelyn Hammon. As for Byng, they will head out on the road to challenge the Savages at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Oklahoma (Tecumseh is ranked 111th, while the Pirates are ranked 112th).
