Baseball Recap: Mountain Crest Extends Winning Streak to Five

Mountain Crest waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Logan Grizzlies 9-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-4 last Wednesday.

Kayden Cullimore made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Mason Smith was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Ryder Bradford was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Mountain Crest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Mountain Crest's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Logan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-12.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Mountain Crest will take on rival Ridgeline at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 3.8, the Riverhawks 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Logan is set to face off against their familiar foe Green Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
