Baseball Recap: Hardee Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Hardee started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Fort Meade. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Miners on Friday. Wildcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Miners since on Friday.

Hardee had to settle for second despite strong performances on the mound from Jeremiah Cabrera and Wyatt Beattie Cabrera pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits, while Beattie pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Beattie has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Leo Marrero was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Hardee's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-9. As for Fort Meade, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Hardee will square off against DeSoto County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.61 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fort Meade, they have already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Santa Fe Catholic on the 1st.
