Recap: Chapman Panthers vs. Broome Centurions
The Chapman Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Broome by a score of 76-74. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chapman in their matchups with Broome: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Chapman saw an underclassman step up: Colby Moon scored 14 points along with four steals. Moon continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Grayden Humphries was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists.
Broome got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ja'Coreyun Broadus out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kamajay Brackett-Brannon, who scored 22 points along with six assists and three steals.
Chapman has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Broome, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chapman will square off against Daniel at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Daniel is coming into the game with six straight victories at home, so Chapman is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Broome, they will head out on the road to square off against Seneca at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seneca is coming into the contest with nine straight wins at home, so Broome is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
