Softball Game Preview: Flora Wolves vs. Mt. Carmel Golden Aces

The Flora Wolves will challenge the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Flora's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Mt. Carmel has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

On Tuesday, Flora came up short against Fairfield and fell 8-4.

Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Lawrenceville 9-2 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Golden Aces, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lyla Keepes made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

Keepes wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Evie Sellers, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Mt. Carmel's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Flora, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Flora beat Mt. Carmel 13-10 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Golden Aces have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
