Baseball Recap: Purvis' Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Purvis had no problem doing just that on Monday. They put the hurt on the Greene County Wildcats with a sharp 11-1 win. The Tornadoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 matches by six runs or more this season.

Kade Lawler tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Jacob Parker was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was JoJo Parker, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one double.

The victory (which was Purvis' fifth in a row) raised their record to 24-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Greene County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 17-14.

As of now, neither Purvis nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
