Baseball Recap: Hastings Saxons vs. Western Panthers

Hastings extended their losing streak to 21 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-26 in the process. They lost 11-0 to the Western Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 on Monday.

As for Western, the victory got them back to even at 9-9-1. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Western's part, Brody Parrott made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Parrott was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Lincoln Levy was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. DJ VanRiper was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hastings will welcome Pennfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Western, they will be playing at home against Hanover-Horton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
