Soccer Game Preview: East Chapel Hill vs. Northwest Guilford

The East Chapel Hill Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Northwest Guilford Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

East Chapel Hill is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand American Leadership Academy-Johnston a 10-0 shutout two weeks ago. Considering East Chapel Hill's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Their offense was hitting American Leadership Academy-Johnston from everywhere, as nine different players booted in a goal. Hazel Kaplan led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northwest Guilford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Reagan with a sharp 3-0 victory on Friday. The matchup was close at halftime, but Northwest Guilford turned on the heat in the second half with two goals.

Northwest Guilford's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for East Chapel Hill, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 5-3.
