Softball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Stillwater

Stillwater waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Woodbury Royals by a score of 4-1. This was a revenge game for the Ponies: when they faced off against the Royals last Tuesday, they had to take a 10-5 loss.

Ella Weisser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Mackenzie Zrust was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Stillwater's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Woodbury, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stillwater will square off against White Bear Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Ponies' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Woodbury, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against East Ridge at 4:30 p.m.
