Softball Game Preview: Clinton Central Bulldogs vs. Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos

The Clinton Central Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clinton Central will be strutting in after a win while Lafayette Jefferson will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Monday, Clinton Central made easy work of Bethesda Christian and carried off a 10-1 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Nuriah Harvey made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Harvey was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carly Davison, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Makalyn Bray, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Clinton Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bethesda Christian only posted a batting average of .091.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Lafayette Jefferson's offense. They came up short against McCutcheon on Tuesday, falling 11-0.

Clinton Central pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 10.9 runs thus far. As for Lafayette Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Clinton Central took their win against Lafayette Jefferson when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bronchos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
