Baseball Recap: Battle Mountain Wins Going Away Against Eagle Valley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Steamboat Springs, Battle Mountain was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Eagle Valley Devils with a sharp 10-4 victory. The Huskies not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12th (when they won 15-0).

Blake Roberts made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zach Irwin, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jameson Lott, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Battle Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .391 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

The win got Battle Mountain back to even at 9-9. As for Eagle Valley, they dropped their record down to 7-11 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Battle Mountain beat the Devils by a score of 8-4 later that day.
