Baseball Game Preview: Lake Belton Broncos vs. McKinney North Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Lake Belton will face off against McKinney North. The Broncos will challenge the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lake Belton 2.5, McKinney North 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lake Belton heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Thursday. They fell 4-1 to McKinney North. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Broncos couldn't push the score so high this time.

For McKinney North's part, Brooks Nelson made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Nelson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Nelson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brady Shelton, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

The win was the seventh in a row for McKinney North, bringing their record up to 16-12-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Belton, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 26-6-2.
