Palmyra made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,871 from 13,298. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 46-8 victory over Riverside last week.
The Panthers' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zach Berry threw for 249 and three touchdowns and Caliph Wright had 95 yards receiving. On the ground Wright chipped in 41 yards. Angel Torres helped Palmyra's passing attack out by catching six balls for 87 yards.
Kevin (joshua) Hernando made the biggest impact on defense this week as Palmyra beat the Rams. The 5-foot-8 junior forced one fumble and racked up 2.5 sacks.
Thanks to the talents of Steve Strobel and Tyler Nicolo Maple Shade has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Strobel leads the league in passing with 1251 yards, while Nicolo has rushed for 972 yards this season. Tyrone Belford's team's Wright leads the league in receiving yards with 634 on 35 catches.
Nicolo of the the Wildcats is only 28 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in West Jersey - Freedom this week will be when Florence Township Memorial takes on Burlington City. As it stands, the Flashes are in first, while the Blue Devils are in fourth.
The Panthers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 46 points on Riverside. Berry in the win.
