Volleyball Preview: Shelley Russets vs. Hillcrest Knights
Shelley and Hillcrest are an even 3-3-1 against one another since September of 2014, but not for long. The Shelley Russets will host the Hillcrest Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Hillcrest is facing Shelley at the wrong time: Shelley suffered their first home loss of the season on Thursday and they're likely out for redemption. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Broncos. The Russets haven't had much luck with the Broncos recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
While Shelley ultimatly came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-17, 19-25, 25-23.
Shelley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Audrey Wattenburger, who had 11 digs, and Macie Winder, who had nine kills, nine digs, and three aces.
Meanwhile, Hillcrest didn't have quite enough to beat Kimberly on Saturday and fell 3-2. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Hillcrest sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 28-30, 25-6, 20-25, 15-8.
Shelley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Hillcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
