Volleyball Recap: Brookfield Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Brookfield duked it out with Pomperaug on Thursday. The Bobcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The loss continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Brookfield started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-13, 25-12, 25-15.

Tripp Latta had a dynamite game For Pomperaug., getting ten aces and six digs. With that strong performance, Latta is now averaging an impressive 2.3 aces per game. Sawyer Rayno was another key player, getting 12 digs and one assist.

Brookfield's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Pomperaug, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Brookfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pomperaug, they will head out on the road to challenge Masuk at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
