Baseball Recap: East Rankin Academy Takes a Loss

If East Rankin Academy was riding high fresh off their 16-2 takedown of Newton County Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The East Rankin Academy Patriots fell just short of the Sylva Bay Academy Saints by a score of 8-7 on Thursday. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Saints earlier this season, when they won 15-2.

Andy Bowman was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Will McGee also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

East Rankin Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Sylva Bay Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-2.

East Rankin Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Parklane Academy at 2:00 p.m. on March 10th. East Rankin Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Parklane Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they will challenge Magee at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
