Football Game Preview: Taft Greyhounds vs. Hebbronville Longhorns

The Taft Greyhounds will square off against the Hebbronville Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Taft is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 43 points two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Santa Rosa on Friday. They lost to the Warriors on the road by a 21-7 margin.

Meanwhile, Hebbronville's game last Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They came up short against Santa Rosa, falling 40-16.

Taft's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Hebbronville, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Taft came up short against Hebbronville in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 26-20. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Longhorns' Jacob Gomez, who rushed for 86 yards and one TD, and also threw for 30 yards and one touchdown. Now that the Greyhounds know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
