Softball Recap: Warrenton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Portland Adventist Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Warrenton). They never let the Portland Adventist Academy Cougars get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Wednesday. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Scarlet Anderson was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Warrenton let Lucy Smith and Natalie Pike run wild. Smith went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Pike went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Pike a new career-high. Gema Archuleta was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Warrenton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .410. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

Warrenton's win bumped their record up to 3-8-1. As for Portland Adventist Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Warrenton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
