Baseball Recap: Pleasant Grove Comes Up Short

Pleasant Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Franklin Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Tuesday.

Pleasant Grove got a good showing from Matt Emmons, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Emmons has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Pleasant Grove saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Varin Verma, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Pleasant Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Franklin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pleasant Grove beat the Wildcats by a score of 3-2 on Friday.
