Recap: Skyridge Falcons vs. Westlake Thunder
On Friday, the Skyridge Falcons faced the Westlake Thunder in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Skyridge lost to Westlake on the road by a decisive 50-36 margin. Skyridge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Westlake apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Skyridge lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Shae Toole, who scored six points along with seven steals. Toole is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bella Sika, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Westlake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chloe Jensen led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Jensen hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Austyn Feller was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Skyridge's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-4. As for Westlake, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Skyridge will head out on the road to face off against Lone Peak at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westlake, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lehi at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Lehi focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
