Recap: Neumann-Goretti Saints vs. Archbishop Wood Vikings
Make it seven blowout wins for the Neumann-Goretti Saints this season. Everything went their way against Archbishop Wood on Thursday as Neumann-Goretti made off with a 83-61 win. Neumann-Goretti's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Neumann-Goretti's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Stephon Ashley-Wright led the charge by scoring 22 points along with six assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ashley-Wright has scored all season. Larenzo Jerkins was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Neumann-Goretti pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Archbishop Wood, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Neumann-Goretti will head out on the road to take on Cardinal O'Hara at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cardinal O'Hara will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Neumann-Goretti is ranked second). As for Archbishop Wood, they will face off against Centennial at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Centennial's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests.
