Soccer Game Preview: Centennial vs. Stockdale

The Centennial Golden Hawks will venture away from home to take on the Stockdale Mustangs at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Centennial is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.6 goals per game this season.

Things were looking good for Centennial after they put the first points on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 3-1 to Liberty. While losing is never fun, the Golden Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 616th, while the Patriots are ranked 168th).

Centennial's goal came courtesy of Will Terronez, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Stockdale waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They never let the Wolf Pack onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. Two seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Stockdale's win bumped their record up to 10-1-4. As for Centennial, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-7-2.

Centennial came up short against Stockdale in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Centennial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
