AA District 16 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Tamadreus Trezevant and Dejuan Mcquarters provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Whitehaven. The connection went for 90 yards, the longest such play in AA District 16 this season.
Sheffield extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Memphis Northside, 68-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Mitchell's dynamic duo of Trezevant and Mcquarters proved tough for the Tigers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Trezevant threw for 155 yards and one touchdown and Mcquarters had 97 yards receiving. Antonio Gilliam helped Mitchell's passing attack out by catching five balls for 58 yards.
Tarrance Dixon was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 191 yards on six carries as Sheffield fell to Whitehaven. Larry Kimber also contributed to the rushing game with 51 yards on the ground.
Mitchell's Trezevant and Mcquarters have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading AA District 16 in both passing and receiving yards. Trezevant has thrown for 1418 yards this season, while Mcquarters, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 30 catches for 647 yards. Dixon from Lashawn Lester's team leads the league in rushing with 1046 yards.
Fairley's Dominque Smith is a mere five yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Smith has rushed for 995 yards on 98 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Bulldogs take on Sheffield. Fairley is in second place, while the Knights are in third place.
There should be lots of points scored when Rahnmann Slocum's team and Sheffield face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Bulldogs comes in having scored 242 this season, while the Knights have scored 275.
Sheffield took down the Cougars 68-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dixon in the win.
